"Harp" is a family nickname I've had forever. "Miles" is what I do: mostly on trail, sometimes on road, occasionally by bike or paddle. Say it out loud and you get the rest of it: hard miles.
My background is mostly trail running and ultras, up to the 250-mile distance, with road running mixed in. I'm currently training for a marathon.
I started this to document it properly: the training, the racing, and the planning that makes a long day on trail go right.
Writing more seriously about this sport, including a book and online magazine pieces, and eventually directing a race of my own.
If you're planning a long race, crewing someone, or just curious what a 250-miler is really like, stick around.
